We Are All Mammals

Our “We Are All Mammals” Campaign

Today, Marine mammals face many threats. Everything from forced captivity, to commercial whaling, ship strikes, entanglement and ocean pollution. Reducing the impact of human activity can be challenging and encompass several dimensions.

The first step to making a positive impact begins with “Caring”. We must recognize and understand at a deeper level what connects us all to Dolphins, Orcas, Whales or even Seals – We Are All Mammals.

All mammals, including humans, have the same distinctive features. We all have fur, or hair growing on our skin. Yes, even Whales.

Did you know that the big bumps so recognizable on the head of humpbacks are in fact large hair follicles?

Ultimately, One of the cornerstone ideas of the We Are All Mammals movement is that there are no fundamental differences between us humans and the rest of the animal kingdom, we are part of nature, not separate from it.

We must continue to raise awareness about the environmental threats affecting marine mammals. Only through greater understanding of what connects us all can we build greater respect and care for these important marine species.
